As we navigate the effects of Covid 19, I want to share some thoughts regarding the health and well being of our students. For our students who are virtual please make sure they are getting more exercise and opportunities to go outside and play. When children are at the school building they are moving more, walking through the building, walking to specials, the cafeteria, walking to and from recess. I think it is important to be aware that our virtual students may not be getting quite as much movement as they need. PE is also now only 30 minutes for our virtual learners so please make sure to increase movement time. Little things such as exercise breaks between classes (think push-up's, jumping jacks, skipping around the kitchen, frog jumps, etc.) Get students outside as much as possible, let them run and play and give them a break from their devices. For our face to face students I am limiting the intensity of our lessons because of the requirements to wear face masks. With this in mind I am also concerned that fitness levels are dropping. Please get your children outside and let them run, get their heart rates up, and exercise their hearts regularly. Get them on their bikes, take them on a jog, take them to the playground whenever possible. For those students playing organized sports please click the button below for an article with safeguards that might be helpful for children playing sports.
